Gin distillery equipment
A common way nowadays is for gin to
be distilled after the original spirit has been brewed, with the
juniper berries and other botanicals wrapped in gauze and suspended from
the outlet of the steam at the top of the tower distillation pot, so
that the higher temperature alcohol steam can easily dissolve the
juniper berry's aroma in the distilled spirit.
Another more
traditional method is to use pot stills for distillation. The raw
material is fermented to obtain the original spirit, which is macerated
for several days and then distilled to obtain a gin with a strong
juniper berry flavor.
Another method is to crush the juniper
berries into flakes, ferment them with other raw materials in an
alcoholic fermentation process, and then distill them.
